» Saturday October 16, 2010 - 06:32 am A Serbian Film Opens British Horror Film Festival
The British Horror Film Festival dares the public to come and watch... As the first ever British Horror Film Festival looms, tickets are already starting to be snapped up for this exciting event! On Saturday 30th October from midday until midnight Bournemouth pier is going to be home to vampires, ghouls, zombies and werewolves! A perfect place for a thriller!
The controversial movie 'A Serbian Film' has been nominated for Best Feature Film and Best Actor (for Srdjan Todorovic) at the festival, which culminates in an awards ceremony at the end of the evening.
Festival Director Stuart Brennan has said that having the first UK public screening of the movie was a tough decision: "The film has received a lot of controversial press and hype recently, but our team watched it and considered it as an important film, with a powerful message behind it. We're proud to have it open the festival, uncut."
There are only a limited number of tickets on sale, so booking in advance is essential.
Directors from Australian horror films Needle and Voodoo Lagoon have confirmed their attendance, as has the British director of Devil's Playground, who will all be on hand to do Q&A sessions after the films and introduce their movies.
The event and all screenings have been rated as over 18's only and will be held in the Pier Theatre in Bournemouth. The schedule is as follows:
- 12pm - 2pm - A Serbian Film
- 2pm - 4pm - Short & Student Horror Film Screenings
- 4:15pm - 6:15pm - Needle
- 7:30pm - 9:15pm - Voodoo Lagoon
- 9:35pm - 11pm - Devil's Playground
- 11pm - 12am Awards Ceremony

The British Horror Film Festival
The British Horror Film Festival is run by The Film Festival Guild, a Bournemouth based business that sets up and runs film festivals in the UK. Their aim is to promote independent film-makers and bring awareness to movies that you might not see at your local cinema.
In its first year the festival has started off as a one day event, but is expected to grow each year, increasing the number of screenings and special events on a regular basis.
A Serbian Film
From new director Srdjan Spasojevic, A Serbian Film features a semi-retired porn star who agrees to participate in an "art film" in order to make a clean break from the business, only to discover that he has been drafted into making a film with darker moments than he ever imagined.
