Jon Foster and Trevor Morgan star in gripping thriller BROTHERHOOD. Theatrical release 14th January 2011. Loyalties are tested to the limit when Brotherhood arrives in UK cinemas on 14th January 2011, courtesy of Kaleidoscope Entertainment.
Director Will Canon dives into the murky world of 'hazing' at US college fraternities, where 'pledges' are forced to carry out dangerous tasks to prove their loyalty to the group. A botched robbery is the catalyst for a series of events that forces student Adam Buckley (Trevor Morgan; The Patriot, Jurassic Park III) to make a stand and try to save a friend's life.
Adam Buckley (Morgan) finds himself in the middle of a convenience store robbery during his last night as a pledge for a college fraternity. When the initiation ritual goes horribly wrong, and every move proves disastrous, Adam is forced to confront a new challenge all together, and he has to take a stand in one the year's most nerve shredding thrillers.
Making BROTHERHOOD has really been a ten--year process that began with a short film made at NYU called ROSLYN. BROTHERHOOD is based on the short, but I always felt like there was more to say than could be said in an eight--minute film. So once the short was done making its way around the film festival circuit, I set out to make the feature.
Many of the films that I love are able to infuse personal stories inside of genre--specific situations. I saw in BROTHERHOOD the opportunity to do a similar thing. Even though BROTHERHOOD isn't tailored to one specific genre, it pulls from several, it still delivers the fast, exciting, suspenseful ride of a genre film with a personal story underneath that allowed me to explore themes that are very important to me. Themes like justice, integrity, and redemption.
In order to make the film personal, I also wanted the details of the story to be specific to the place and way I grew up. For better or worse, I've known guys like every character in the film. I've never had a night quite like the night in BROTHERHOOD, but it was important to me to ground the story in a personal way that felt true to life, and that started with the characters.
Ten years after the idea for the film first jumped into my head, the feature is finished. I could not be more proud of the work that everyone involved with the film has done or ore excited to premiere the film in my home state of Texas. I can't wait for the South By Southwest audiences to experience it.
