» Saturday August 29, 2009 - 08:19 am Dark Media Entertainment Announces Exciting New Authors
A new website to help authors of dark and futuristic thought sell their material to readers and publishers has been launched. Dark Media Entertainment.com (DME), which bills itself as "A community of Future Thought, Sci-Fi and Horror," began as a vehicle to highlight the work of a single author, but now boasts an ever growing roster of writers who specialize in telling dramatic stories about the dark underside of life.
The site also features nine dramatic trailers produced to feature novels of, and interviews with DME's debut author Cindy Hutchins, who has written three books set to be published by Lyrical Press, the New York based E book publisher. All three stories are set in the Deep South, where Hutchins was reared. The first, "Best Left Buried" is a haunting tale of a young girl growing up oppressed by birds and demons, trying to maintain her sanity. "Turf War" is a frightening drama about two serial killers who terrorize a small town, and each other, as they fight over the dwindling supply of victims. "The Ballad of Yancy Cates" is a collection of equally frightening short stories, as told by a mysterious and foreboding old man. Hutchins is currently at work on a fourth book titled "Willowdale," also set in the South, about the circumstances and unusual past of a maniacal Preacher and his strange flock.
"It is Hutchins' aggressive enthusiasm that has driven the site," says DME's Jim Edwards, a Hollywood film director and editor with an illustrious list of his own hits, who serves as Creator and Artistic Director of the site. "On the heels of her significant work, more authors are stepping up and coming aboard DME." Among them, Jessica Kimmel Freeman who has written a book titled "Bella Note," J. D. Williams who has penned a novel titled "Timestream" (also available from Lyrical Press,) and N. L. Snowden, who's creepy story "In and Out of Madness" details a woman's meticulous plans to execute the "perfect" murder. Additionally, DME is in creative discussions with author Rebecca Winters Keegan, to promote her new Crown book The Futurist -The Films of James Cameron, including his new upcoming 3D masterpiece, Avitar.
"In the world today, a question is being asked," says Hutchins. "How is the Internet going to affect the sales of various media? The answer is Dark Media Entertainment." Edwards elaborates, "DME combines what works in the feature film-world with new-media world technology. The book industry is used to selling product with the same tools the authors use: words. In today's world, that's not enough. The modern audience demands excitement, thrills and audio-visual stimulation. DME presents an enhanced experience even before the reader sets eyes on the book. We offer up the author's imagination, feelings and images, as close as possible to his or her original intent. And we provide a glimpse into the author's soul."
DME is on the World Wide Web at www.darkmediaentertainment.com
