» Wednesday October 06, 2010 - 06:03 am Maureen "Mo" Whelan's Artwork Joins Dark Carnival Noir
Maureen "Mo" Whelan (Aka: MoDragonfly), independent filmmaker, writer, model and actress will be exhibiting her artwork at Carnival Noir, presented by LA UNDERGOUND, Charly "Hatrik" Gienau, Randy McKenney, and K. Howell, on October 8th 2010, from 10:00pm – 2:00am. Her artwork for this event will include oil pastel and charcoal drawings.
Mo was most recently known as a producer and actress for the independent horror / slasher film "Client 14," an actress in the independent horror / comedy film "7 Deadly Sins: Inside the Ecomm Cult," and as an animator for "South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut."
She is currently in post-production for her own short film "The Suburban Count" and in pre-production for her next short film "A Sin That Cannot Be Forgiven." She is slated to produce a few live-action feature length films for Probell Films. Previously, Mo was in charge of film licensing and acquisitions for AWNtv.com and has worked at several production and post-production studios in the Los Angeles area. She has also written for the comedy / horror magazine, Girls and Corpses magazine, the on-line animation publication AWN.com and several other publications. As a model she has worked with several diverse Los Angeles photographers. Her pictures and writings can be found throughout the internet and in print.
Carnival Noir is a carnival for adults. All will be entertained with burlesque dancers, the Middle Eastern dancers of Mandala Dancers, magician Micah Cover, fire spinning by Tupå, and fire breathing by Ted Shred of Pirates for Hire. There will also be live music performances by Windows To Sky, Red Light District and Darvoset. You can't have a carnival without games, so, there will be dark carnival games for the adults to play and merchants for the adults to shop. Merchants include Astera Leather (Handcrafted leather goods), Mary Ann Liddel (Shaddow boxes and accessories), Randy McKenney (Goggle's and extras), Blackwall Oddities (Handknit zombies/creatures), Kimi Takemura (Pen and Ink), Specimen 7(Monsters), Mystical Heartforms (Glass jewelry and fractals) and Tabitha "BlueLady" Haney (Masks and Paintings). Other artists include Jetti Lewis, Carl Beu, Sofia Alice Radin, Nicolas Kaviani, and Nicolette Kaviani. Merchants and artists curated by K. Howell.
Carnival Noir is located at The Monte Cristo, 3100 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, Ca. 90010.
On-line presale tickets for the event are $10.00 and available at selected locations. Tickets will be $15.00 at the door.
