Zombie Drugs is the story of 2 small town suburbia druggies, Sebastian and Vinny, living their lives out of high-school with dead-end careers. Sebastian believes he is on the path to a life of wealth and ease that always allows him to remain heavy under the influence of his own intoxication. Vinny, on the other hand, has hit rock bottom and struggles to separate imagination from reality.
Concocting the ultimate burnout's dream from a recipe online, Sebastian has struck gold. However, that wealth and prosperity comes to a screeching halt as people around him start dying…and, of course, coming back to life as Zombies.
Zombie Drugs has been compared to smash hits like Pineapple Express, Dude Where's My Car and Spun. It's a perfect combination of hilarity and horror that will either have you laughing until your stomach hurts or screaming at the top of your lungs in terror.
Written and Directed by Alex Ballar, the film is very stylized and everything but a typical indie film. Zombie, in this case, is somewhat used metaphorically in the sense that druggies can be classified as zombies due to the effects of taking too many drugs. Don't expect to see your typical mummified zombie, here. Welcome a new generation of zombies - the cracked-out kind. The film, though very comical and provides the cult-following type of horror viewers want to see, does make an attempt to send a positive message.
Alex also stars in the film as Michael alongside Producer/Actor Beau Nelson (Sebastian), Wolfgang Weber (Vinny), Susan Graham (Kara) and Natalie Irby (Melissa). Other notable cast members include Brian Thomas Smith (The Big Bang Theory) and David Reynolds (The Hills Have Eyes II, House of 1000 Corpses).
Beau and Alex of Manginity Films are currently ramping up for the World Premiere of the film in Los Angeles. The expectation is then to push a theatrical release in major cities, followed by TV Network distribution. Manginity Films is already preparing for 3 more films in 2011.
