Reelistic Films today announced that their latest feature, Pelt is the winner of the Outstanding Feature Film and Audience Choice awards for this year's Big Bear Horror Film Festival. Three days and 31 films later, Pelt walks away with the two most coveted awards of the event.

The film stars Justin Welborn, Ashley Watkins, Travis Goodman, Matthew Robinson, Amber Bollinger, Sarah Zurell and Ryan Boone. Produced by Brian Gork and Jon Jones, the film centers around a group of young adults on a backpacking excursion deep into the woods of Caveland, Kentucky. Sudden, gory death hides behind every bush as they come chest to chest with a resident evil as old as the trees.
The Big Bear Horror Film Festival has become a favorite of horror fans around the world. With its small town community, built around a serene lake, high up in the forest covered mountains, the town provides an atmosphere like no other. The festival opened October 15 and ran through October 17 at the Performing Art Center in Big Bear Lake, California. Winners of the festival were awarded in a ceremony that followed the event Sunday evening.
An account of the actual events that took place in Caveland, Kentucky in the Summer of 1991.
On July 18, 1991 seven young adults set out for a five day excursion to Caveland, Kentucky. They had filed with the Kentucky Forest Rangers for a wilderness permit to climb to the top of the Devils Bone Yard. They were all last seen alive that first night at a restaurant called Frank's Mountain Hideaway - Bar and Grill, in the foothills near the entrance to Mammoth Cave National Park.
The first body was discovered four days later on July 22. Police suspicions were peaked when the autopsy revealed the blood covering her body belonged to two other people. Seven days later, search and rescue crews found their vehicles and tracks leading them to an abandoned cabin. Inside the basement, the remains of three bodies from the initial group and body remains belonging to at least another 14 people were discovered.
