Shelter Blu-Ray And DVD UK Release August 2nd

Icon Home Entertainment is pleased to announce the Monday August 2nd Blu-ray and DVD release of the harrowing supernatural thriller “Shelter” starring Julianne Moore and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. In addition to the main feature film, the DVD and Blu-ray includes exclusive bonus features including the Making of featurette, audio commentary and deleted scenes.

Dr. Cara Jessup (Julianne Moore) is a forensic psychiatrist who has made a career out of defying the notion of multiple personality disorders. In the courtroom, her views and testimonies as an expert witness against multiple personality disorders have resulted in the death sentence of more than half a dozen murderers. Cara is devoted to science, but even her husband's horrific murder did not cause Cara to lose her faith in God. Not so for her young daughter Samantha, a committed unbeliever.

After a troubling court case, Cara's father Dr. Harding introduces her to his new patient – Adam (Jonathan Rhys Meyers). The more she unearths about Adam, the more her life and those closest to her are endangered. As she explores Adam's past, her world begins to fall apart and she is forced to question her beliefs in science and in God. Racing against the clock to solve the mystery surrounding Adam, Cara must not lose faith or it could have severe consequences for her and her family.

Shelter is directed by the Swedish duo Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein (Storm), who's edgy filming techniques effectively complement the gradually escalating tension as each new personality emerges from Mike Macari, the film producer of the hugely successful remake of the Japanese horror film The Ring, the screenplay for Shelter is written by Michael Cooney (Identity starring John Cusack and Ray Liotta).

ABOUT THE CAST

Julianne Moore (Dr Cara Jessup) is an actress of exceptional range. She has contributed outstanding work in both box office hits and independent features. She has the rare accolade of receiving two Oscar acting nominations in the same year for her performances in Far From Heaven (Best Actress nomination) and The Hours (Best Supporting Actress nomination) – the latter co-starred Nicole Kidman and Meryl Streep.

Moore was recently seen in I'm Not There, the Todd Haynes film in which seven characters represent a different aspect of the life and works of Bob Dylan. Blindness - a film adaptation of the Nobel Prize-winning novelist Jose Saramaga's book of the same name, directed by Fernando Meirelles.

Moore's credits also include Hannibal in which she starred as Clarice Starling opposite Anthony Hopkins, the action thriller Next in which she starred opposite Nicolas Cage, Children of Men – directed by Alfonso Cuaron and starring Clive Owen, plus Paul Anderson's films Boogie Nights and Magnolia, and Neil Jordan's 1999 romantic drama The End of the Affair opposite Ralph Fiennes.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Adam) first gained recognition for his starring role in Todd Haynes' Velvet Goldmine with Ewan McGregor and Christian Bale.

Since then, Rhys Meyers has won a Golden Globe Award for his starring role in the mini series Elvis, and received two Golden Globe nominations for his role as Henry VIII in The Tudors.

Rhys Meyers continues to land leading roles opposite today's hottest film actors and directors, and has emerged as one of Hollywood's most sought after leading men.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers also starred in Woody Allen's Match Point with Scarlett Johansson, Oliver Stone's Alexander The Great biopic Alexander with Colin Farrell and Angelina Jolie, and the recently released action thriller From Paris With Love co-starring John Travolta.

Frances Conroy (Mrs. Bernburg) has been honoured for her portrayal as Ruth in Alan Ball's critically acclaimed television series Six Feet Under, with a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy nomination.

Ms. Conroy has also appeared in numerous films including the Woody Allen classics – Manhattan, Another Woman and Crimes And Misdemeanors, Martin Scorcese's The Aviator, Martin Brest's Academy Award-winning Scent of a Woman; Frank Oz' Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Jim Jarmusch's Broken Flowers opposite Bill Murray.
