The Intervention Selected By Fangoria's Trinity Of Terrors
Psychological/horror film screens at the Brenden Theaters in the Palm Casino Resort. The Intervention is an independently financed adult horror film produced by Richard Eden, Shannon Hile and Ted Collins, shot on 35 mm in 18 days, in Ojai, California. An actress with credits including The X-Files and Monk, writer/director Shannon Hile, was heavily influenced by classic horror films of the 1970's, such as Rosemary's Baby, Don't Look Now, and The Shining.
The Intervention is the story of eight people who have gathered to intervene in the destructive path of addict, Matt Garret. But as the night wears on, what appears to have been an obvious case of alcoholism reveals itself as demonic possession. The dark entity methodically turns the group against each other, taunting them with their deepest secrets.
Hile collaborated on the screenplay with her actor husband Richard Eden, (TV's Robocop), who stars as Tom Garret, the brother of the possessed man. In keeping with the 70's retro vibe, the film features a number of genre faces, including Dwier Brown, (William Friedkin's The Guardian, Red Dragon), Laurie Prange (Dark Secret of Harvest Home, Night Gallery), Cody McMains (Trailer Park of Terror), Scott Paulin (Cat People) and Kamala Lopez-Dawson (Permanent Vacation). Stephen Edwards (Feast, Children of the Corn), wrote the score. David H. Watkins (The Omen, Alien) did the special effects.
The Intervention is a unique cinematic beast, shifting gears effortlessly between horror and psychological thriller, taking the audience on a twisting trail of terror encompassing both the supernatural and an all too human nature.

It was a sunny California Day. But instead of frolicking at the beach or strolling along trendy Melrose Avenue, I found myself seated with a cup of coffee at a family member's intervention. It was a violating few hours, running an emotional gamut. I began to sense the inner demons wreaking havoc and wondered if I could put that "horror" on the screen.
