White Vengeance Introducted At Cannes
Arclight Films is introducing Daniel Lee's newest period action/adventure film WHITE VENGEANCE to Cannes buyers under its Easternlight banner. Filming has just begun in Hangzhou and Dunhuang, China on this RBM 100 million (US $20 million) production, which is slated to wrap July 4. Producers for the project include Wang Zhe, Song Guang Cheng and Susanna Tsang (DRAGON SQUAD; 14 BLADES). Easternlight's distribution agreement was brokered by Easternlight Managing Director Ying Ye.
Writer/director Lee (14 BLADES, THREE KINGDOMS: RESURRECTION OF THE DRAGON, DRAGON SQUAD) is joined by a talented cast including Leon Lai (BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS, FOREVER ENTHRALLED, INFERNAL AFFAIRS, END INFERNO 3); Zhang Hanyu (BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS, THE MESSAGE, ASSEMBLY); Yifei (Crystal) Liu (THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM); William Feng; Anthony Wong (THE MUMMY, TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR, INFERNAL AFFAIRS); Jordan Chang and Andy On. Key crew include action director Leung Siu Hung, production designer Henry Fong, Cinematographer Tony Cheung and costume designer Eddie Mok.
WHITE VENGEANCE tells the story of two brothers of war cast against each other during the fall of the Qin Dynasty, which ruled Imperial China from 221 to 206 BC. As rebels rose, the nation fell into chaos. Liu Bang (Leon Lai) and Xiang Yu (Shaofeng Feng), serving under King Huai, became leaders of the rebellious army, and also became sworn brothers in battle. They conquered the heartland of the Qin Dynasty and caused its destruction. Threatened by Liu and Xiang's power, King Huai formed a plot to turn the brothers against each other.
The once sworn brothers now held resentment toward each other. Xiang planned to kill Liu at a banquet held in Hong Men, but who will emerge as the winner from this epic battle and survive to claim their path to the crown?
Sales in the first few days at Cannes have been brisk, with Ying Ye having closed deals on Korea (Cineline Korea); Malaysia (Ram Entertainement); Singapore (Passion); and Turkey (Aqua Pinema), as well as an airline deal with Entertainment In Motion.

Eight films have come to Cannes under the Darclight banner, including KTD 2020, produced by Douglas' Fairbanks' grandson Dominick Fairbanks; HARVEST; WOLF CREEK 2; MONSTER LOVE ("Romeo and Juliet with Fangs"); Russell Mulcahy's shark tale BAIT 3D; BEREAVEMENT, starring Michael Beihn, Alexandria Daddario and Peyton List; and the Vicious Brothers' GRAVE ENCOUNTERS.
